Indian Passport Renewal Misery at High Commission of India London – Searching the meaning of status ADVERSE

May 2, 2010

Since I was given the secret code of ADVERSE I’ve been busy cracking this code.

I Googled for all possible information regarding the Adverse status of passport renewal/re issue application and came to conclusion with followings

1) Adverse Status means RPO (Regional Passport Office) has some objection on it or

2) RPO couldn’t trace out the person’s details (address etc) or

3) Or a person is wanted/have cases going on in court

Whatever the possible problem is the solution seems to be not found.

I have approached the Regional Passport Office for applying passport for my daughter who is 5 years old (last week -Feb 2011). When I approached the counter, I was told “Adverse” in my passport dated in the year of 2009, and I can not apply passport for my daughter. I had no clue the reason for the adverse. They do not want to explain the cause. The solution that I was told was that “I have to surrender my passport in the office and wait for weeks, months…. or I don’t know years…. as many people say it is not that easy to come out of it. I work in other country and signed a contract with the regular leave options. Can anyone suggest me whether there is any way to clear the Adverse from my passport.

    Hi Rathna,
Send RTI to them and demand full explanation for the adverse status.

See this post on how to file RTI.
